AMURT Nigeria | Every Life Counts Campaign

You can bring critically needed emergency care to mothers and children in Nigeria. Your gift to the “Every Life Counts” emergency assistance program saves lives. We work together to reduce mortality among the most vulnerable: pregnant women, newborn babies and children.

Since our partner organization, AMURT Nigeria, started in Ebonyi State in 2010, supporters like you have been making healthcare accessible in the most remote and neglected rural villages in one of Nigeria’s poorest regions. Many lives have been saved. Your gift is applied directly and exclusively for emergency assistance to ensure that no lives are lost for lack of financial means.

Voice Of a Child has been a key partner of AMURT Nigeria since 2013. We have funded the purchase of multiple ultrasound machines and other medical equipment, worked very closely with Rotary Club Cupertino (California) and helped acquire a brand new ambulance and has been a major donor towards the “Every Life Counts” yearly fund-raising campaign.

Women’s College, West Bengal, India

Voice Of a Child has partnered with Uma Nivas, a women-managed community development service for the construction of a new building for the women’s college. The project is located in one of the poorest and most backward areas of Purulia district in West Bengal, India.

The new building opened for the academic classes in January of 2022 after four years of construction. Academics, including courses in computer, dance and music classes are provided free of cost to the neighboring indigent population.

Uma Nivas’ services started in 1978 with a small school. Since then Uma Nivas’ service projects have steadily grown to six primary schools, a girls’ high school, two medical clinics, a music college, and student hostels providing education and health care to hundreds of children, women and families.

We hope to provide economic well-being to the community by providing free or low-cost educational opportunities. Your contribution will assist with the staff salaries for the instructors of the women’s college and scholarships for the needier students.

Evergreen School, Kerala, India

Voice Of a Child in association with Neo-Humanist Education Charitable Trust started this school in 2006. The school’s goal is to impart ‘true holistic education’ at an affordable cost to the children of lower and middle income families who live in the area. The school started with 18 children in its Kindergarten Program in the first year and currently have 140 children from Pre-School to 4th grade, and 14 full-time staff members.

The construction of the second level of our new school building was completed in January 2023. We now have a full-fledged 6000 sq ft building, with large classrooms, library, activity room, computer lab and meditation room. Evergreen’s unique ‘Circle of Love’ curriculum imparts character building values – integrity, moral courage, self-confidence, self-reliance and a spirit of service.

Your contribution towards this project will be used for the purchase of new computers and multi-media equipment. It will also be used for subsidising the tuition fee for families who cannot afford to pay the nominal fees charged by the school.

Hawaii Wildfire Relief

The fire that occurred on August 8, 2023, in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii, resulted in the destruction of more than 2200 structures and claimed over 115 lives, with 388 individuals reported missing. Voice of a Child raised funds and supported Local Harvest LLC, a produce distribution company in Hawaii, to help rebuild the Maui Community.

Local Harvest LLC quickly stepped up to support the community by

  • Donating a significant amount of food to fire victims.
  • Purchasing as much of the farmers’ crops as possible, safeguarding them from devastating losses
  • Distributing these items to local kitchens, where over 10,000 meals were prepared daily for disaster victims.
  • Ongoing work to rebuild the Maui community and reopening businesses
  • Working in partnership with 501(c)(3) non-profit, World Central Kitchen, and local food security groups, Hungry Homeless Heroes Hawaii & the Hawai’i Food Hub Hui, a working group of 501(c)(3) non-profit, Hawai’i Good Food Alliance

Through meticulous resource management and a regenerative approach, Local Harvest fosters self-reliance and support across various sectors of Maui’s economy. Your assistance is invaluable in the ongoing effort to rebuild the Maui community.
