The entire northwestern villages were depopulated, their houses looted and burned, which led to displacement toward the city center and the southeastern villages. Some of the displaced were distributed among shelter centers in the city center (marked in yellow) and in neighboring villages (marked in blue), although some of these places do not actually host displaced people.
However, the overall economic situation is very bad for everyone due to the siege. The villages in which I have so far been able to verify the number of displaced people — many of whom have received little or no international aid — are as follows, after confirming with some trustworthy locals:
1. Mimas – 1,000 displaced people, some staying in schools and others in the homes of local residents.
2. Sahwat al-Khudr – 700 displaced people
3. Summa – 200 displaced people
4. Amtan – 150 displaced people
5. Tarba – 83 displaced people
6. Al-Mushannaf – 80 displaced people
7. Sali – 60 displaced people
8. Shnireh – 40 displaced people
9. ‘Anz – 45 displaced people
10. Bal‘anat – 36 displaced people
11. From al-Ksayb to Shurayhi – 31 displaced people
In some villages, we have complete lists of names, their original villages, and the number of family members.
We are working to provide maximum assistance, especially for the villages far from the city center. Since the beginning of the terrorist attack, these villages became completely overcrowded, putting enormous pressure on the original residents as well.
