AMURT & AMURTEL staff and volunteers were already in Haiti when the earthquake struck on Jan 12th. Since then, we have re-enforced the operations with support teams flown in from USA.
We are operating two programs at this time in Port Au Prince. First, an urgent care clinic in a badly hit neighborhood, close to the airport. Secondly, a food and water distribution program to the vulnerable groups in the Delmas neighborhood.
Future plans include moving children out of the very volatile areas in Port Au Prince, to a safe shelter with adequate supplies. This will be the best way to secure children through this very dangerous times.
