Cataract Surgery Community Clinic Fundraiser
Voice of a Child, in partnership with Abha Seva Sadan Composite Charitable Hospital, is set to establish a community clinic for Cataract Surgery in Purulia, West Bengal, India. Purulia district represents one of India’s most impoverished communities. It has a significant elderly population suffering from treatable blindness caused by cataracts.
Currently, the hospital diagnoses cataract conditions and refers the patients to other institutes. Unfortunately, patients are often too poor to travel to distant hospitals, and thereby resign themselves to a life of darkness. Our marketing study shows that the proposed dedicated cataract surgery center at the hospital, offering free surgeries, would be tremendously effective in alleviating blindness and thereby provide a productive life to the elderly population.
We have set a goal to conduct the first surgery camp by February 2025 and treat at least 30 patients. We are also targeting giving eyesight to over 150 patients in 2025. With your generous support, we will achieve and exceed our goal.
Will you help us? Together we can achieve the goal.
For the villagers, Abha Seva Sadan Hospital is a vital lifeline for their medical needs, as the nearest alternative hospital is 25 kilometers away. Established in 1963, Abha Seva Sadan currently serves over 100,000 people from 85 surrounding villages, providing essential healthcare services to this marginalized community.
